Bowie State University
Food Services Renovation Program Management
In the summer of 2009, Bowie State University engaged Brailsford & Dunlavey to provide program management services for a three-phase renovation of the University’s student food services venues. The purpose of the project was to enhance the quality of the dining experience for the growing on-campus resident and commuter student populations by fully renovating the 300-seat Lucy Whatley Dining Hall, the Bowie’s Loop food court, and the grab-and-go Marvelous Market.
Throughout the course of the project, B&D coordinated and oversaw the following elements of the development process:
- Engagement of key stakeholders both internal and external to the University
- Management of design and construction of the three food service venues
- Evaluation and management of budget and schedule requirements
- Solicitation and selection of vendors
- Procurement of all furniture, fixtures, and equipment, including all loose furnishings, graphics, and food service equipment
- Compliance of construction with local code requirements
- Performance of weekly quality control inspections
- Compilation of project documentation
Under B&D’s proactive management and leadership, all three food service venues were completed under budget and opened to the students for the fall 2009 semester.
