Groton School
Health Center Programming
Beginning in 1995, Groton School
has retained Brailsford & Dunlavey for
support services in the planning of a wide
variety of campus construction initiatives.
The School has relied heavily on B&D's
unique planning process, which includes:
- An analysis of the proposed project's role and objectives within the greater mission of Groton
- An understanding of the facility responses of competitor institutions
- Input from faculty, trustees, and students
- The development of a series of project concepts for review by a Working Group
The result of the process is a program document defining the architectural requirements of the consensus project concept. This document assists the School in estimating project costs, fundraising, and communicating the needs and requirements of Groton to a selected design team.
B&D has worked with the School using this process on the following campus planning initiatives:
- athletic center
- performing and visual arts center
- science and academic facilities
- health center
- student and faculty housing
- dining hall
- student center
B&D and Groton have successfully been able to build consensus and define the best facility response for each of these facilities within the context of the overall campus needs. A number of these projects are in construction or design at the present time as the School looks to aggressively position itself in the 21st century.
