St. John's University
University Center / Academic Center -- Meeting/Event Space Demand Assessment
Brailsford & Dunlavey was contracted by Hillier Architecture in 2006 to assist in confirming the student-centered activity space program requirements for St. John's University's new University Center / Academic Center, which was in the process of being developed. The University's Student Life office provided data on existing student organizations and programming, and B&D--using its benchmarking database and experience with more that 80 student life facility projects--projected potential demand for meeting rooms and large-event space. This "right-sizing" exercise ensured that the new University Center / Academic Center would be configured to maximize services and spaces for organized student activities as well as informal, unstructured usage by small groups or even individual students.
