University of Missouri-Kansas City
Arena Feasibility Study
In November 2007, Brailsford & Dunlavey was retained by the University of Missouri-Kansas City to conduct a feasibility study for the development of a market-responsive multipurpose arena and conference center. In addition to providing an on-campus home for the University's athletic programs, the proposed arena and conference center would host a mix of cultural and entertainment events.
B&D's
feasibility study included a market analysis
and a preliminary financial analysis. The
market analysis portion included a
comprehensive evaluation of demographic and
economic indicators in Kansas City and
comparable markets, a target market analysis,
and an evaluation of Kansas City's event
market. The financial analysis portion
included the development of a comprehensive
financial model based upon a consistent set of
assumptions and a sensitivity analysis of
several operating scenarios.
B&D's ultimate recommendation was to develop a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena, with six luxury suites, administrative facilities, and athletic support spaces.
