Cleveland State University
Recreation Center Business Planning and FF&E Support
After selecting Brailsford
& Dunlavey to conduct a feasibility
analysis and referendum support for a new
recreation center, Cleveland State University
retained B&D again in 2004 to develop a
business plan for the recreation center and to
make recreation FF&E recommendations.
B&D designed the business plan to serve
three functions: (1) to confirm the financial
performance that was presented earlier to the
University; (2) to advance the recreation
center's development of management and
marketing strategies; and (3) to serve as an
implementation guide for the opening and
general management of the proposed
facility.
In addition, B&D produced a booklet detailing a strategy for FF&E procurement: specifications for the equipment, which manufacturers to purchase equipment from, and how much the University should be paying for each piece of equipment.
The $29.8 million, 130,000 square foot recreation center opened in August 2006. In 2007, 2008, and 2009, the project received Architectural Showcase awards from Athletic Business magazine. The facility also achieved LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
