Government of Bermuda
Cricket World Cup Bid Analysis and Preparation
In the beginning of 2004, the Government of Bermuda retained Brailsford & Dunlavey to provide comprehensive planning services in two phases relative to the preparation of the Government's bid for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. The first phase would focus on the preliminary analysis required for the Government to issue a letter of intent to the West Indies Cricket Board expressing its intention to pursue a World Cup bid. If the Government decided to proceed with the bid, the second phase would consist of comprehensive bid preparation services culminating in the delivery of a Bid Document to the West Indies Cricket Board.
After
B&D completed a comprehensive economic
impact analysis, technical specification
requirements, and detailed game requirements,
the Government decided to move forward with
submitting a World Cup bid. B&D proceeded
to lead the effort on drafting a bid document,
highlighting Bermuda's many qualifications for
hosting the 2007 Cricket World Cup,
including:
- Extensive experience hosting sporting events
- Superior sports infrastructure
- Safe, clean, and effective transportation structure
- A thorough, viable financial plan
- Safe and secure environment
- Popular tourist attraction
